A little help, right here.

RELEASE STATUS CHECKED SEPTEMBER 17, 2026

Sidequest is awaiting App Store review. You can try all 12 guided expeditions, return visits, Then & now comparisons, and the observer’s passport in the free browser preview now.

How do expeditions work?

Choose one of 12 expeditions, read the briefing, and optionally name your place. Begin, then write an observation at each of the four stops. These are observation tasks, not GPS destinations. Record each note before binding your field report.

Can I pause?

Yes. Notes save as you write. Choose Save & close, then Resume expedition from Expeditions or Notebook. One expedition can be open at a time. Discarding an expedition removes its unfinished observations after confirmation; completed reports remain.

How do I export a report?

Open a completed report in Notebook. The iPhone app shares the report as text or prepares a printable PDF for the native share sheet. The browser preview downloads text or uses your browser’s Print command.

How do return visits work?

Open a completed report in Notebook and choose Return to this expedition. You get the same four stops and place label with blank notes. Earlier observations are folded away until you open them. Complete the new visit, then select Then & now to compare both sets of notes and share a comparison as text or a PDF. Finish or discard an open expedition before starting a return visit.

What is the observer’s passport?

Open your passport in Notebook to see which of the twelve subjects you have explored and how many return visits you have completed. Stamps come from completed reports. Deleting the last report for a subject removes its stamp.

Where are the original challenges?

Open Notebook, then Challenge archive & earlier memories. The original 200 challenges, bookmarks, and memory collection remain available. The website’s challenge archive keeps its original browser collection.

Where is my notebook stored?

The native iPhone app stores reports on your device. The preview uses separate browser storage. They do not sync. Private browsing, clearing site data, or deleting the app can remove local content. Export reports you want to keep separately.

What if saving fails?

Check available storage and try again. The app only completes an expedition after its save succeeds. If a notebook cannot be read, its saved file is left intact and writing is paused to protect it. Contact support before removing data.

Accessibility

The iPhone app supports system text size, Reduce Motion, and optional haptic feedback. There are indoor and outdoor expeditions, and you can work from a comfortable seated viewpoint where the task allows. There are no timed deadlines.

App Store availability

As of September 17, 2026, Sidequest version 1.0.0 is waiting for Apple’s review. It was submitted on September 15 and is set to release automatically after approval. An availability date has not been announced. The planned US price is $4.99, paid once, with no subscription or in-app purchases. The browser preview is free.

What’s in the latest version?

Explore 12 authored expeditions with 48 observation stops, keep drafts and completed field reports, and return to an earlier subject with fresh notes. Then & now comparisons put both visits together, while your observer’s passport records the subjects you have explored. The iPhone app includes native text sharing and PDF exports, works offline, and requires no account. It supports iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
